A step closer to elections in France and in the Netherlands

  • 17 February 2017
On February 17, 2017, Boris Guseletov, leading scientific associate of IE RAS Department of Social and Political studies, took part in the discussion about the upcoming presidential election in France and the parliamentary election in the Netherlands at the program «Mesto Vstrechi», NTV-Channel.

Boris Guseletov remarked that Emmanuel Macron's favorable position during the pre-election period is associated with the society's fatigue of the established political elites. Though Macron's anti-Russian views are part of his presidential campaign, he is unlikely to convert these views into the real policy, if he happens to become a president.

Boris Guseletov evaluated the chances of the far-right Party for Freedom to win parliamentary election in the Netherlands as relatively low. In his view, the Party will not get absolute majority, while its rival parties refuse to form a coalition with it.
