Bundestag election and Russian-German relations

On June 6, 2017, within «Dialogue of Russia and the EU» project of Moscow office of Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the round table «German parliamentary election 2017 and its impact on Russian-German relations» was held in Metropol hotel, co-organized by IE RAS.
 
The project aims at continuation of Russia-EU cooperation and finding answers for the existing crisis of trust between the two strategic partners. The discussion was on possible shifts in Russian-German relations due to changes in the ruling coalition in Berlin; potential risks, stemming from possible allegations of Russia’s intervention in German election campaign; expectations of Russian citizens of Russian Presidential election 2018.
 
The round table was moderated by Julius von Freytag-Loringhoven, Head of Moscow office of Friedrich Naumann Foundation. Introductory reports were delivered by Deputy Director IE RAS Vladislav Belov and Vice-President of European Parliament Alexander Graf Lambsdorff. The discussion was shared by: deputy Head of IE RAS Center for German studies Ekaterina Timoshenkova, Head of Political department of German Embassy Hubert Knirsch, RIAC Director General Аndrey Kortunov, «Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung» journalist Friedrich Schmidt, Program director of Russian foundation of free elections Irina Skupova, assistant Professor of Higher School of Economics Nataliya Soupyan and Head of «Grazhdanskaya initiativa» party, Russian Economy Minister 1992-1993 Аndrey Nechaev. Scientific associate of IE RAS Department of European integration Anna Ayvasyan contributed to preparation and work of the round table.
