The conference was opened by the President of Russian academy of education L.А. Verbitzkaya and Chairman of Russian State Duma Committee on education and science V.А. Nikonov.
First deputy Minister of education and science V.V. Pereverzeva cited to the audience greetings of the Russian President V.V. Putin, Russian Prime-minister D.А. Medvedev and Minister of education and science О.Y. Vasilieva.
The participants discussed the problems of identity and consolidation of the Russian world, preservation of the classical heritage and development of the Russian language and culture, shared their experience in educational activity. Podium discussions were devoted to the problems of strengthening the positions of the Russian language in Russia and abroad.
The conference was attended by prominent Russia and foreign social and political leaders, famous scientists, writers and artists, teachers of the Russian language and literature, diplomats, clerics, journalists.
