On March 19, 2018, the IE RAS held a German-Russian round table, called “Electoral Systems, Elections, and the Governments Formation in Russia and Germany”. The event was organized by the IE RAS Centre for German studies and the Hanns Seidel Foundation Moscow office.
The round table participants discussed the peculiarities of the German and Russian party political systems, both the Bundestag elections outcomes of September 24, 2017, and the Russian presidential elections of March 18, 2018, as well as their impact on the German-Russian relations.
IE RAS Director Al.A. Gromyko opened the discussion. The introductory reports were presented by Deputy IE RAS Director for Scientific Work V.B. Belov, President of the Chemnitz University of Technology Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, leading scientific associate of IE RAS Department of Social and Political studies B.P. Guseletov, deputy Head of IE RAS Centre for German studies E.P. Timoshenkova, Deputy Chairwoman of the Bavarian Landtag Committee for Constitution, Law, Parliamentary Issues and Consumer Protection Petra Guttenberger.
Among those who took part in the debate were IE RAS leading researcher V.P. Fyodorov;
Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary, Representative of Land of Bavaria in Russia M.A. Logvinov; first Deputy of the Bavarian Landtag President R.
