On October 27, 2016, in Berlin, Deputy Director IE RAS V.B. Belov took part in the first Russian-German conference «Germany and Russia: challenge to the state of law». The event was organized by (with support of Russian Embassy in FRG): IE RAS, Union of Russian Speaking Organizations of Germany, German-Russian forum, Institute of human rights commissioners in Russia, European institute of ombudsmen.
The conference was attended by prominent Russian and German politicians, representatives of public organizations, scientists, experts, ombudsmen and journalists. V.B. Belov moderated the opening and the first podium discussion «Attitude of modern society in Germany and Russia to human rights violations». The conference was greeted by Russian Ambassador to FRG V.М. The discussion was actively shared by Т.N. Moskalkova, Human rights commissioner in Russia. She suggested, based on existing Russian-German human rights forums, the creation of common dialogue platform of Russian and German human rights organizations. Т.N. Moskalkova also voiced the idea of monitoring best practices in human rights and freedoms in our states.
