Conference «Limits of German leadership in Europe»

On October 12, 2016, representative delegation of IE RAS participated in the conference «Limits of German leadership in Europe», held by Primakov IMEMO RAS.
The participants were greeted by Deputy Director of IMEMO RAS, Corresponding member RAS V.М. Mikheev and the Ambassador of FRG to Russia Rudiger von Fritsch. The conference provided for 5 sections on various economic and political aspects of Russia-Germany relations. The event was opened by the report «Economic power of Germany as the base for leadership in Europe», delivered by the conference moderator, Deputy Director of IMEMO RAS, Corresponding member RAS А.V. Kuznetzov.
Deputy Director of IE RAS V.B. Belov presented the report on peculiarities of modern German Standart policy, including the context of the coming Fourth industrial revolution. Several reports were delivered by associates of IE RAS Center for German studies: E.V. Romanova («Innovation policy of Germany»), N.V. Supyan («Industrie 4.0: international technological cooperation»), E.P. Timoshenkova («Peculiarities of development of party and political system of Germany: challenges of time»). Professor RAS А.А. Sindeev, IE RAS Department of European security, presented his vision of the problem in the report «Strengths and weaknesses of German participation in the common foreign and security policy of the EU». Deputy Director of IE RAS, Corresponding member RAS V.P. Fedorov took active part in the discussion. IE RAS was also represented by young scientists: F.О. Trunov and А.К. Ivanova.
After the conference the participants were invited to the reception at the German Ambassador Residence, attended by members of Bundestag and German diplomatic representatives in Russia. Mr. von Fritsch opened the evening and underlined the important contribution of Russian-German expert dialogue to settlement of existing contradictions and promotion of mutual understanding between our countries.
