Meeting with Richard Burge, Chief Executive, Wilton Park (UK)

On June 6, 2016, IE RAS had the honor to welcome Richard Burge, Chief Executive, Wilton Park (UK) – leading discussion forum and expert center in international relations, security and defense, conflict settlement, global economy, human rights, sustainable development. The meeting, held in the form of a round table, was attended by IE RAS Director Аl.А. Gromyko and experts in specific fields of research.
R. Burge devoted his speech to the history, goals and current activities of Wilton Park. The scientific discussion, which followed, was enriched by deputy IE RAS Director О. Butorina with expert evaluation of the current condition of the European monetary system, and Head of Department of European Security D. Danilov, who disclosed the tension factors in Europe, NATO activities and the Ukrainian conflict settlement. Head of Center for Political Integration L. Babynina spoke on various aspects of the EU; Head of Center for British Studies Е. Аnanieva analyzed the situation in UK on the verge of EU membership referendum. Associate of Center for British Studies А. Budargin covered the referendum media campaign, as well as regional aspects of British policy; post-graduate student I. Shkrоbtak touched upon various issues of security and defense.
The meeting demonstrated mutual interest of the parties in continuing cooperation, development and realization of joint projects.
