Regular «Potsdam meetings» in Berlin

On May 30-31, 2016, IE RAS Director Аl.А. Gromyko and deputy IE RAS Director V.B. Belov took part in regular «Potsdam meetings», organized by Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Foundation and German-Russian Forum.
This time the expert discussion «Russia and Germany: dialogue in foreign policy and economy» was aimed at elaboration of joint responses to major international challenges with account for Russian and German interests in various spheres of politics and economy.
The discussion covered three blocks of questions:
- current trends in Russian-German economic relations;
- new agenda of European security;
- dialogue of politicians and society.
Prior to the event, German Federal Foreign Minister F.-W. Steinmeier discussed with participants, in a trustful manner, major issues of Russian-German-European relations. After that, the Minister officially opened «Potsdam meetings» addressing the audience with a program speech, in which, among other things, he proposed to consider gradual withdrawal of anti-Russia sanctions subject to progress in execution of Minsk agreements.
Among 40 Russian and German participants of the forum, held since 1999, there were prominent politicians, representatives of business, science and education, well-known experts.
