«Russia – France: parliamentary perspective of the future» round table discussion in the Council of Federation

On February 29, IE RAS associates – Head of Center for French Studies Y.I. Rubinskiy and leading scientific associate of Department of Social and Political Studies S.М. Fedorov – participated in «Russia – France: parliamentary perspective of the future» round table discussion, organized by International Affairs Committee of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The discussion was focused in «France – Russia: in search of way out of the political dead end» report, prepared in late 2015 by International Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Commission of the Senate of France.
Most of Russian experts agreed that, despite certain presentiment to Russia, the report bears a lot of constructive suggestions and the spirit of partnership. It can provide a good base for restarting the inter-parliamentary dialogue and elaboration of practical joint steps, which can help find the way out of the clearly drawn out «political dead end» in relations between Russia and France.
