The EU divorce and after: rebuilding Britain’s relationships

On October 6-8, 2016, Head of IE RAS Center for British Studies Е.V. Ananieva participated in the international conference «The EU divorce and after: rebuilding Britain’s relationships» in London, organized by The Ditchley Foundation.
The event was moderated by expert of Harvard University R. Sykorsky (minister of defense 2005-2007, foreign minister of Poland 2007-2014). The conference was attended by G. Robertson (UK minister of defense 1997-1997, NATO Secretary General 1999-2003), G. Hill (European Commissioner on financial stability 2014-2016), Ambassadors of France, Germany, editors of leading magazines («The Economist», «The New-York Times», «The Financial Times»), experts from UK, USA, Canada, FRG, Japan, Turkey.
Vivid discussion of the reasons and consequences of Brexit took three days. In parallel sessions of working groups Brexit was analyzed from various points of view: possible scenario of UK-EU negotiations, consequences for UK and EU economies, probable political and economic unions of UK, Brexit impact on the global role of UK, changes in the balance of powers in the EU.
