V.B. Belov in «Pravo golosa» TV show

On September 29 and October 3, 2016, IE RAS Deputy Director V.B. Belov took part in two broadcasts of «Pravo golosa» TV show (TVC channel), discussing party, political and economic development of Germany, including political prospects of Angela Merkel and results of reunification of Germany.
September 29 – «Germany without Merkel?»
Christian democrats are going through hard times. In the last three elections the party of Chancellor Merkel had the worst results in history. On September 18 in Berlin it received only 17,6% of votes, followed by Euroskeptics from «Alternative for Germany», who got 14% of Berlin votes, and secured seats in the 10th regional parliament out of 16. Bundestag elections are a year from now. Who can replace Angela Merkel as the Chancellor? And, most important – will the political course change?

October 3 – «Тhe shadow of the German unity»
Does the West still remember and appreciate the role of Russia in this process? What are the consequences of German reunification for Russia and the rest of the world? Could Russia have received more benefits — compensations, treaty on non-expansion of NATO to the East or even dissolution of NATO? What are the current relations of the countries which build the united Germany? How united and independent is Germany now? What historical lessons are to be learned?
