On December 14, 2016, IE RAS held the conference «Brexit and EU economy problems», organized by IE RAS Department of Economic studies.
The event was opened by IE RAS Director, RAS Corresponding member Аl.А. Gromyko, and moderated by IE RAS Deputy Director, RAS Corresponding member V.P. Fedorov and Head of IE RAS Department of Economic studies Dr. A.I. Bazhan. The conference was attended by prominent Russian economists, representing leading universities and research centers. The discussion covered the following topics: pros and cons of regional economic integration; contradictions in the EU institutional base and other economic reasons that led to Brexit; prospects of EU disintegration and economic integration in Europe in general in the context of Russian strategic interests.
