On January 13, 2017, IE RAS Director, RAS Corresponding member Аl.А. Gromyko, Head of IE RAS Department of European integration research Dr. О.Y. Potemkina, deputy Head of IE RAS Center for German studies Е.P. Timoshenkova took part in the German-Russian round table «Short and long term prospects of the EU–Russia dialogue in the conditions of new wars, nationalism growth and world order changes».
The round table was the first event under the initiative of Friedrich Naumann Foundation to create a new expert platform for developing Russia–Europe dialogue in the current international situation. The dialogue is aimed at elaboration of recommendations for improving Russia–Europe relations and settling the most complicated issues. The participants discussed the dialogue’s format, structure, participants, discussion subjects, as well as the possible influence of US elections on Russia–Europe relations, peculiarities of German Bundestag elections in September 2017 and prospects of Russia–Germany cooperation.
