On January 18, 2021, IE RAS Director Al.A. Gromyko took part in Presentation of Recommendations of the Participants of the Expert Dialogue on NATO – Russia Military Risk Reduction in Europe, prepared by a group of leading Russian and Western researchers.
The event was hosted by Russia Today and moderated by Oksana Buryak.
Participants:
- Scientific Director of the Institute of USA and Canada RAS, RAS Academician Sergey ROGOV;
- Director of the Institute of Europe RAS, RAS Corresponding member Alexey GROMYKO;
- Vice-Admiral in retirement, former Chief military representative of Russia in NATO, Senior research fellow of the Institute of USA and Canada RAS Valentin KUZNETZOV;
- Director of European Leadership Network Adam THOMSON;
- Ambassador Steven Pifer (USA).
In December 2020 over 160 experts from the United States, Russia and 18 European countries (20 former ministers of foreign affairs and defense, 25 ambassadors, 25 retired generals and admirals, as well as non-government experts from 55 institutes, universities and research centers) – members of Expert Dialogue on NATO – Russia Military Risk Reduction in Europe – signed the Recommendations to stop escalation in the military sphere between Russia and NATO in Europe, to urge heads of states and governments to take immediate actions to lower the risks of the current confrontation, which can easily spill into a military conflict and probably a big war.
