International conference in Budapest

On March 21-22, 2016 IE RAS scientists participated in the international scientific conference on social and political transformations in 1985-1991 in Hungary, Eastern Europe and Russia, organized by System Change Historical Research Institute in Budapest.
The conference was opened by the Institute Director, famous Hungarian politician Zoltan Biro and Deputy Chairman of Hungarian Parliament Sandor Lezsak. IE RAS Director Professor Al.A. Gromyko devoted his speech to the global changes that took place in the world, Europe and our relations over the 25 years. Head of IE RAS Department of Central and Eastern European Studies Dr. L.N. Shishelina told about the perception of the Eastern European revolutionary changes by Soviet and Russian politicians and social scientists on the verge of the 1990s. Head of IE RAS Department of European Integration Research Dr. О.Y. Potemkina highlighted the problems facing the Eastern European countries on their way to the EU, and chief scientific associate of IE RAS Dr. А.V. Drynochkin compared the results of economic development of Hungary and the Eastern Europe «before» and «after» the reforms.
