On May 27, 2016, 77 senior political, military and diplomatic figures – members of European Leadership Network – from across Europe (including IE RAS Director Al.A. Gromyko), have expressed their concern over an inter-state conflict over Syria and support measures to fight ISIS (terrorist organization – prohibited in Russia) whilst bringing the Syrian conflict to a close.

On May 27, 2016, senior scientific associate of IE RAS, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary I.N. Sherbak took part in parliamentary hearings, led by Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of Russian Federation Council К.I. Kosachev. Deputy Foreign Minister S.A. Ryabkov delivered a report on the state of execution of international disarmament treaties. The hearings were attended by representatives of the Federation Council, Security Council and federal authorities, as well as scientific community (Institute of USA and Canada RAS, IMEMO RAS, MGIMO, Diplomatic Academy etc.).
